At Midleton Medi Centre we provide the highest level of care in a confidential manner and expertise to all patients who wish to attend or seek information about STIs.
We offer support and provide direct access to STI testing.
To assist you here are some frequently asked questions:
When should you have an STI screen?
- If you have had unprotected sex, especially with an unknown partner.
- If you have any unusual symptoms in the genitourinary area.
- If a recent or present partner has been diagnosed with an STI.
- If you are about to begin a new sexual relationship.
How long does it take?
- An STI Screen takes approximately 15 minutes. It involves a doctor and or nurse who will take;
- Urine sample (male only) – tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
- Vaginal swab for women – tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
- Blood sample – tested for H.I.V, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Genital Herpes and Syphilis
